Ford edge halogen vs hid headlight4/4/2024 ![]() If my presumption is correct and I'm not satisfied with the H9's, I will likely then upgrade with a high quality conversion to HID, but I'm still unsure if that upgrade will be best achieved with the stock projector headlight housing assembly that comes on my new car, or if that conversion will require a different housing assembly that comes on HID-equipped models for optimum results with my upgraded HID lights? ![]() I will start by simply upgrading the stock H11 Halogens to the brightest (and whitest) H9 Halogens I can find (please recommend the brightest whitest H9 on the market), but I'm worried I still won't be satisfied with the color discrepancy between the low beam halogen and the LED Signature DRL's in the lower fascia. I have ordered a '17 Titanium with 301A and Cold Weather Package, so I'm getting factory dull projector Halogen bulbs. Again sorry you don't enjoy the car, sucks man.Can someone please confirm if the headlight housing is a different stock part from Ford if you choose a non-HID Edge vs one that comes with factory HID's? Or do they use the same projector headlight housing assembly regardless of the bulb type they install for you? Good luck man with whatever you decide to do. My Charger Scat Pack only has Holegen Bulbs which are not as good as HID's but with the Drivers Fog light support I have no issues on the darkest roads. My Son has a Audi S4 which also has HID's and his are supported with Drivers fog lights and same thing. ![]() I had the HID's in my 2017 Durango which are Projector exact style as yours but I also had Drivers / fog lights and they lit up the road better then anything I have ever owned. Most cars today have them and not having them I think sucks and is one of the things that steered me away from the awesome looking wide body model. I think you made a mistake by buying the Wide body which does not have drivers or fog lights. Just do a AutoTrader search on the last few years and you will see very high re sale value. They sell for almost what they go for new. Resale value is very high right now so your very wrong about that. That it was likely holding the light hitting the road as well and to replace those with the clear projectors but I never bothered to research that solution any further.Ĭlick to expand. I did find a post back when I was looking for a fix and someone mentioned it was likely the projector lens having that diffuser built into it to help soften the cutoff. You just never know what someone had before and comparing the HID's too. I knew there wasn't and chalked it up to everyone's opinion on brightness is subjective. When I posted about it a year ago I got the same response from many that the HID's on the charger were fantastic and there must be something wrong with mine. The amount of light coming from the front of my car seems like Daytime Running light Lumens at best. My wife Hyundai Tuscon's HID's are freaking incredible. I honestly came from many cars before that truly had headlights that lit up the road in front of me. I thought the exact same thing as you on my 2019 Scatpack Charger w/HID's.
